Ottawa, ON – April 2025 — Canadian Heritage is leading a high-profile Creative Industries Trade Mission to East Asia, offering Canadian interactive digital media (IDM) companies a chance to build new business relationships and expand market access in one of the world’s fastest-growing regions for digital entertainment and cultural content.
Taking place in Seoul, South Korea and Tokyo, Japan from June 3–7, 2025, the mission invites Canadian studios, producers, publishers, and distributors to participate in a curated program of B2B meetings, networking events, site visits, and pitch opportunities with top East Asian buyers and partners.
For Canadian IDM companies—working in video games, XR, immersive installations, and interactive education—this represents a unique opportunity to connect with influential platforms, investors, and production collaborators in two global innovation hubs.
“With Asia accounting for more than half of global video game revenues and growing demand for Canadian storytelling and innovation, this mission is a strategic opportunity to amplify our global footprint,” said leaders from the Canadian Interactive Alliance (CIAIC).Companies selected for the delegation will benefit from:
- Tailored matchmaking with decision-makers in Korea and Japan
- Opportunities to present IP and forge co-production, publishing, or licensing deals
- Insights into cultural trends, consumer behaviour, and market-entry strategies
The mission is part of Canada’s broader effort to support export development and global discoverability for its creative sectors, including Indigenous and underrepresented voices in digital media.
Applications closed in February 2025, with selected companies now preparing to represent Canada’s creative and interactive industries on the world stage.
